About The Remarkable Studio As a teenager, my father – also a keen photographer - gave me a miniature Rollei camera which I carried everywhere for years, and still have today. The photographs from some of our greetings cards came from this camera. We set up The Remarkable Studio in 2004 to build on a long standing passion for landscape photography. I have lived in the Sussex village of Lynchmere for over 40 years and the Sussex countryside remains a strong influence on my images - although our portfolio now includes shots from other parts of the UK and around the World! The Impressionists were also a important early influence on me and many of my pictures use strong or atmospheric lighting that makes the large prints look more like paintings than photographs. The pictures have been exhibited locally and in other parts of the UK. I recently won a first prize in the Royal Horticultural Society 2007 Photographic Competition for a photograph of an oak tree at dawn. I still use film for landscapes but digital photography has opened up a new world in portrait photography. We now work together to offer a personalised service in portrait and event photography. The emphasis is on natural, relaxed and informal pictures and we prefer a reportage approach to events to give people a memory of the atmosphere of an important day. Digital photography has also allowed a new approach to commercial work. We want to bring light and life into the projects that we are involved with and have undertaken a wide variety of commissions.
